Dormitory

We have 3 dormitories with a total of 14 beds. Each dorm is equipped with either it’s own bathroom, which includes a hot shower and toilet, or it is close by. All linen is provided so no need to bring a sleeping bag, however towels are not included so we recommend bringing your own. Each bed has an assigned locker (must provide own lock), individual reading light and a charging stations in each dorm to help keep you connected. Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Earplugs are recommended if you are a light sleeper. Rates from N$300/bed/night with shared bathroom and from N$400/bed/night with ensuite bathroom.

Budget Single/Twin Rooms With Shared Bathroom

These twin rooms each have a fan to help keep cool in the summer months as well as an electronic safe for your valuables. Shared bathrooms are just a few steps away, with access to 4 hot showers and 2 toilets (there are plenty of additional showers and toilets on the property if these are occupied). Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Note: These rooms are close to the bar, and whilst we are not a party place, light sleepers might want to consider earplugs. Rates from N$550 for 1 person per night or N$700 for 2 people per night.

Standard single / twin / double rooms with en-suite bathroom and air conditioning

These double or twin rooms (1 double bed or two single beds) are perfect for those on a budget that are sensitive to our hot Namibian summers and cold Namibian winters as they are equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioners. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom and an electronic safe for your valuable items. Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Rates start at N$750/1person/night and N$850/2people/night.

These triple rooms (3 single beds) are perfect for those on a budget that are sensitive to our hot Namibian summers and cold Namibian winters as they are equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioners. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom and an electronic safe for your valuable items. Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Rates start at N$750/1person/night & N$850/2people/night or N$1150/3people/night.

Luxury family rooms with en-suite bathroom & air conditioning

Ideal for families or friends (1 double bed & 2 single beds) these rooms are bigger than our standard rooms and include tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also a better option for those that are sensitive to our hot Namibian summers and cold Namibian winters as they are equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioners. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom and an electronic safe for your valuable items. Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Rates start at N$800/1person/night & N$900/2people/night & N$300 for each additional person. Discounts for children apply when sharing with 2 full paying adults.

Luxury twin rooms with en-suite bathroom & air conditioning

These twin rooms (2 single beds) are bigger than our standard rooms and include tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also ideal for those that are sensitive to our hot Namibian summers and cold Namibian winters as they are equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioners. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom and an electronic safe for your valuable items. Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Honeymoon suite

The Elephant suite (1 x queen bed) is the quietest room at Chameleon and certainly the most luxurious of them all. It boasts an en-suite bathroom, reverse cycle air-conditioning, tea and coffee facilities in the room, an electronic safe for valuables, and private balcony with outdoor shower for those that fancy a shower under the stars! Included in the rate is a basic continental breakfast, and unlimited WiFi. Rates start at N$850/1person/night & N$950/2people/night.

Executive Apartment

Situated in one of Windhoek’s newest downtown apartment buildings, the Executive 1 bedroom Penthouse Apartment is ideal for those looking for a little more comfort and privacy than at Chameleon Backpackers. This modern apartment includes kitchen & lounge with flat screen TV, WiFi, and air-conditioning, as well as bedroom with full en-suite bathroom including a bathtub for those that want to wash off the sands of the Namib Desert at the end of their safari, all tastefully furnished and finished with artwork by local Namibian photographers.

Fully equipped for self-catering for those that prefer to stay in and enjoy the views from the balcony over the Christuskirche & Independence Museum, or situated in the centre of the city and just an elevator ride and a short walk away from a handful of restaurants & cafes, Independence Museum, The Christuschurche, Cramers Icecream for the start of the free city walking tour, supermarkets, curio shops, the colourful craft market where the Himba sell their wares and the famous Hilton Skybar for sunset cocktails. Rates start at N$1200/1person/night & N$1500/2 people/night, bed only.

Student Accommodation

The Chameleon Commune House is open to accommodate International students/interns/volunteers staying in Windhoek for 3 months or longer. The house has 3 spacious bedrooms, 1 with en-suite bathroom and 2 bedrooms that share 1 bathroom. The house is fully equipped with all appliances such as tv, wi fi, washing machine, all furniture, linen and towels for each person and a cleaner to ensure that the house is kept in a tidy and liveable condition. There is also a salt water swimming pool, garden, braai (barbeque) area and secure off street parking for tenant vehicles. The house is centrally located in the Windhoek West area close to the NUST and ideal for those working in Katutura on social projects. The house is secure and safe for females travelling alone.
